custom sculptures for sea spaces
From founding an immersion artist residency in the Bahamas to forging artistic relationships with architects, artists and designers, Davidson will customize a client's vision into a reality.
“My goal is to make clients feel like they have discovered a buried shell or a hidden antique.”
- Pete Davidson
Davidson celebrates nature through art. He uses aged woods and raw metals inspired by the ocean and maritime history. He never cuts trees. Instead, he uses dead and down, or found and gathered wood. Pieces from historic buildings, ship parts, and metals are repurposed and incorporated into his creations.
At 25, Davidson was a USCG captain of a 50ft sailboat. He travelled the Bahamas and Florida teaching Marine Biology for International Field Studies. He was inspired by the Rastafarian woodcarvers on Andros Island, Bahamas and completed his MFA in Sculpture at the University of Florida. In 2000, he founded MAIC, Maritime Arts and Inspiration Center, a woodcarving residency on Andros Island.
His knowledge of Biology and a passion for sculpture are combined to create ecologically responsible, and historically significant work.
